Character Research

Character Research

Female Victim
Portrayed as innocent and hysterical in some cases. They are used to add suspense, as the audience will jump when they react to something in the film.
More often than not they are blonde and therefore stereotypically portrayed as stupid and "slutty".

"Cocky" character
This is often a male character that doesn't usually believe that there is a chance they could due until its too late and they are being killed. Their careless antics eventually what leads to their death.

The Hero
Again, using male, this character, sometimes unexpectedly, becomes the saviour and leader of the other characters. To show their bravery they sometimes die in place of others or risk their lives to defeat the villain.

Loved up Couple
These characters can be used in two ways. One is that the couple behaves in an irritating way so that the audience is happy when they eventually die, usually due to a stupid mistake, such as having a 'heated moment' instead of trying to escape. The other way is that the couple are the main characters and the film follows their struggle to save each other.

The villain
Finally, the "baddie" in some psychological thrillers is a murder, but they are always very twisted. Likewise, this is the villain we are using, but they only appear in our characters head.
There is sometimes a background story as to why they are doing it, such as a bad childhood experience.
